Content on this site is either original work or reproduced from public-domain sources (court judgments, royal commission reports, regulator decisions). All original text and analysis is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. You may share and adapt this content provided you give attribution to the Australian Justice Transparency Initiative.

Public-domain content (court judgments, tribunal decisions) remains in the public domain and is subject to the attribution and fair dealing rules of the jurisdictions from which they originate.

3. User-generated content

You may submit stories, feedback, corrections, and other content to this site ("User Content").

3.1 Your representations

By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that:

• The content is factual, accurate, and based on your personal knowledge or documented sources
• The content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights
• The content does not contain material that is unlawful, defamatory, libelous, threatening, abusive, harassing, or otherwise harmful
• The content does not impersonate or misrepresent your identity or affiliation
• You have all necessary rights and permissions to submit the content
• If you name individuals, you do so factually and with adequate source material

3.2 Pre-moderation

We pre-moderate all User Content before publication. Content will not be published without your explicit approval. We may:

• Edit content for clarity, length, or to remove personal identifiers
• Request additional sourcing or verification before publication
• Decline to publish content that breaches these Terms or our Community Guidelines

3.3 License to us

By submitting User Content, you grant the Australian Justice Transparency Initiative a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, publish, reproduce, modify, and distribute your content for the purposes of this site and related advocacy, provided that:

• Your anonymity is preserved if you have requested it
• The content is not used for commercial purposes or sold
• You retain the right to request removal of your content at any time

3.4 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Australian Justice Transparency Initiative, its operators, and contributors from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your User Content, including (but not limited to) claims of defamation, copyright infringement, or violation of these Terms.

4. Community guidelines

We are committed to a respectful, lawful community. User Content that violates the following guidelines will be removed:

4.1 Prohibited content

• Hate speech: Content targeting individuals or groups based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
• Harassment or abuse: Personal attacks, threats, or abusive language targeting individuals
• Incitement: Encouraging or inciting unlawful conduct, violence, or discrimination
• Doxxing: Publishing private contact information or personal identifiers with intent to harm
• Defamation: Unsubstantiated allegations against named individuals that lack documentary source material
• Spam or fraud: Commercial promotion, misleading claims, or solicitation of money or personal information
• Sexual or violent content: Graphic sexual or violent material

4.2 Factual standards

All factual claims should be:

• Based on court judgments, tribunal findings, regulator reports, or coroner inquests
• Accompanied by links to primary source material
• Clearly distinguished from opinion or allegation
• Accurate and in context

5. No responsibility for user content

While we pre-moderate all User Content, the Australian Justice Transparency Initiative does not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for the accuracy or legality of User Content submitted by others. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or applicable law, and to suspend or terminate access for users who repeatedly breach these guidelines.

6. Lawful use only

This site is dedicated to lawful, peaceful, and democratic advocacy. You agree not to use this site in any way that:

• Violates any applicable law or regulation
• Encourages or incites illegal conduct
• Violates the rights of others (privacy, intellectual property, defamation law)
• Harms, threatens, or harasses any person
• Involves fraud, deception, or unauthorized access to systems
